Privacy policy

work.net.za is a free index of job vacancies in South Africa. You can use it without an account and you apply on the hiring organisation’s own website, so we hold almost nothing about you. This page explains what we receive, why, who else handles it and your rights.

In short

  • No accounts, no forms, no analytics and no cookies.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts the site, receives technical details such as your IP address with every request.
  • If you email us, we use what you write only to reply or to check a vacancy.
  • We never collect CVs or applications, and job seekers never pay.

Who is responsible

work.net.za is run by Oleg Cherkas, who also runs work.ke. He decides what personal data this website handles and how it is used.

For any question or request about your data, email Oleg Cherkas at hello@work.co.ug. It is the same address shown on our contact page.

What we receive and why

work.net.za has no accounts, no forms, no analytics and no cookies. You read listings without telling us who you are, and you apply on the employer’s own website.

Every visit: Cloudflare hosting

What
Technical details your browser sends with every request, such as your IP address, the page you ask for, the time and your browser type.
Why
To deliver the page, keep the site fast and protect it from abuse.
Handled by
Cloudflare, which hosts the site. See the Cloudflare privacy policy and its data processing addendum.

If you email us

What
Your email address, your name if you give it and what you write.
Why
Only to reply to you or to check a vacancy you sent us.
Handled by
Google, which runs our mailbox. See the Google privacy policy.

What we never collect

We never collect CVs, applications, ID numbers or payment details, and job seekers never pay anything. When you apply, your details go to the employer through its own website and its own privacy policy applies.

Where your data goes

Cloudflare, Google and GitHub, which stores the site’s code, are based in the United States, so the little data they handle for work.net.za may be processed outside South Africa. See also the GitHub privacy statement.

How long we keep it

Emails are kept while they are needed to answer you or to check a vacancy, and are then deleted. Cloudflare keeps its technical logs for the periods set out in its own policy.

Your rights

Under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 you can ask whether we hold personal information about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to its use.

Email hello@work.co.ug and we will answer as soon as we can.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handled your data or your request, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to South Africa’s Information Regulator.

Security

Every page is served over HTTPS, so what you send and receive is encrypted between your browser and the server. Emails are kept in our password-protected Google Workspace account.

Changes to this policy

When work.net.za changes how it handles personal data, we update this page first, change the date at the top and add a line to the history below. We will not start collecting a new kind of personal data, such as analytics or CVs, without explaining it here first.
